HR Business Partner (HRBP)


THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager, HRBP Northern Operations this role is a strategic partner that provides guidance and support to managers and employees. The successful candidate will draw on experience, knowledge, and sound judgement to address employee relations and labour relations matters and will also be able to align People and Culture initiatives with business objectives to drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is primarily responsible for the following:

  • Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders by providing guidance, recommendations and/or coaching for performance management, employee relations, labour relations, and conflict resolution matters.
  • Partner with the Manager, HRBP Northern Operations as well as the operational management team to develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs that promote a positive work culture and compliance with employment laws.
  • Lead and/or participate om People and Culture initiatives to driver employee engagement and retention, talent management, diversity and inclusion, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions to address employee relations issues and ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment.
  • Create relevant documentation as needed.
  • Respond to grievances as needed.
  • Participate in and/or be able to lead collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Analyze metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, relevant employment law and best practices to proactively recommend innovative solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Handle all relevant matters with sensitivity and confidentiality to ensure discretion and integrity.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant Human Resources experience with at least 2 years in a business partner or similar role or equivalent experience.
  • Labour Relations experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships throughout all levels of the Company.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive change.
  • Very strong judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related post-secondary equivalent; related professional certification is an asset

Working Conditions:

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
  • Some travel will be required as this position needs to have a presence at Quebec locations as not all employees have access to email. It will be the successful candidate's responsibility to create a schedule that works best.
  • Operating in mixed environments ranging from a professional office setting, terminals, shops, and washracks.
